Sam Thalji, MD

Biography

Dr. Sam Thalji was a General Surgery Resident at the Medical College of Wisconsin. He grew up in Chicago, IL and completed his medical school training at Loyola Stritch School of Medicine. As a Resident Physician, he is balancing his continued training as a surgeon with his research interests, which center on applying machine learning techniques to better understand the complex interaction between multimodality treatment and cancer outcomes.

He is currently working with Dr. Susan Tsai on investigating ways that precision medicine (molecular profiling, individual response to treatment) can guide optimal selection of neoadjuvant therapies for patients with pancreatic cancer. Along with Dr. Anai Kothari, they are also exploring the utility of various biomarkers for prognosis and clinical decision-making in the treatment of cancer.

Dr. Thalji lives in downtown Milwaukee with his wife Meridith. They love to enjoy the lake and explore everything Milwaukee has to offer.
